Invited by the Taipei Arts Festival, I joined the Think Bar and a panel discussion following the lecture by Florian Malzacher.
The lecture by Florian Malzacher looks at a theatre that wants to engage with society both in content and form, creating a contemporary community in which social and political actions can be deployed and in which societies in their – actual or possible – varieties are played out, performed, expanded, tested, or even invented. It explores how theatre, dance, and performance reveal their essential agonistic and provoking potential to actively change society, rather than merely serving as a cover-up for the dysfunctions, fractures, and wounds of society.

本演講是一個在內容上或形式上都具有高度社會參與的劇場。該劇場創造一個具有當代意識的族群，讓各種社會性、政治性的行動得以展開，社會已存在或潛在的各種樣貌也因此得以被展現、實現、拓展、試驗，甚至是創造。此種藝術形式積極探索劇場、舞蹈與表演如何發揮其本質上的反抗與挑釁潛能，藉此改變社會，而非當一塊遮掩社會功能不彰、裂痕與傷口的遮羞布。

作為藝術節的序曲，「共想吧（THINK BAR）」為20週年的主題“ASSEMBLY”提出框架與亮點，以藝術家（the Artist List）、評論家（the Critic List）及製作人（the Producer List）三個面向呈現，在十二天內密集地舉辦近30場活動，包含售票表演、專題講座、工作坊、講演、交流對談等，提供參與者能有知識方面的獲得，同時也兼顧實作，讓臺北藝術節成為一個具有思考性的藝術節。
The Think Bar is a new discursive platform of the Festival – 12 robust days of critical performances, public talks and network meetings – to unpack the provocations that ASSEMBLY raises by tracking how “performance” operates in recent social movements, global capital flows, cultural migration and youth activism.
